Rev. Jarod Meenan
Pastror (Settled 1998)

Originally a "Westcoaster" from Dumbarton, Jarod has lived in Aberdeen since 1998. He is married to Helen with whom he has two daughters, Kirsty & Chloe. Kirsty was born before their move north while Chloe was born at the turn of the Millennium in a bit of a hurry in the home of one of the Church members in Bridge of Don!

Jarod's previous occupations have included being a civil servant for around 5 years and a drug rehabilitation centre care worker for about the same length of time. In 1989 and 1990, before he studied for his theology degree, he also worked onboard the MV Doulos, a missionary ship which travelled around the South-east Asia and South Pacific region during that time. His understanding of Christian community as well as God's power through prayer and faithfulness increased tremendously in this period.

Following graduation in 1995, from what is now International Christian College in Glasgow, until shortly before his move to Bridge of Don, he worked with the Christian publishing company, Lion, in the Educational Sales Team. At the same time, he worked as a part-time church-based youth worker in Helensburgh.

Jarod has engaged in Christian pastoral ministry through the Baptist Church in Bridge of Don since his arrival in 1998. To the present, Jarod has said that he has been regularly reminded of his need to rely on God's ability rather than his own. Jarod recently completed an MTh in Practical Theology at the University of Aberdeen with his special area of interest being in the nature and practice of pastoral care.

Jarod's great desire is to help people know Jesus and at the same time allow them to find out more for themselves. After the Samaritan people met Jesus they said to the woman who had introduced them to him: "We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Saviour of the world!" (John 4:42)
