Currently, 9 midweek Home Church Groups meet in and around Aberdeen, Ellon and Inverurie area. These Home Church Groups model the purpose and vital functions of the fellowship. The norm for Christians should be that they live in fellowship with each other as well as with the Lord. This means there is a need to meet together regularly, not just on Sundays, but also during the week. We see it as vital that we meet in small groups in addition to the larger Sunday gatherings.

The principal functions of the groups are:

• Bible study/application;
• An expression of the nature of the wider Church through prayer, study and outreach;
• A basis for more effective and more comprehensive caring; and
• To provide a structure for growth both numerically and spiritually.

“A new command I [Jesus] give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13 34)

The 'leadership' of HCGs are viewed within the context of the whole church, not in isolation. An effective link is in place with the Elders (who have the oversight in this area). Regular meetings with the Elders for praise, prayer, feedback and equipping are held 3 times each year. Each group is also allocated to a particular Elder to allow leaders ongoing consultation and support, as necessary. The groups will also have no formal Assistant Leaders with the group Leaders and members seeking to identify, aid and encourage those in their groups who have leadership potential (with a clear view to multiplication growth in due course).
